The first milking is important because it contains the highest concentration of bioactive components such as immunoglobulins and growth factors. These components are essential for the efficacy of the supplement and ensure that you receive the maximum immune and intestinal health benefits. Subsequent milkings contain lower quantities of immunoglobulins and growth factors as the colostrum tapers off and is replaced by "true" milk. Of course, the newborn calf receives its fill from the first milking, prior to any colostrum being ethically harvested.
